When our blessed Saviour was uponearth, little children were brought to him,and he kindly took them in his arms, laid his hands upon them, and blessedthem. You have read this pleasing accountin the New Testament, and youhave been taught that this kind Saviourcame down from heaven, and was calledJesus, because he should save his peoplefrom their sins; you have learned thatGod Almighty will punish all wickedpeople after death, by sending them intoa dreadful place. Now, consider, children, that you are all sinners, and thoughyou are young, be sure, that unless yourepent, and put your trust in Jesus Christ,God will cast you off for ever, and thenyou must be miserable. But Jesus Christloves little children who come to him; hewas nailed to the cross, and died to savethem; and he will bless them, while they[Pg 4]live; and when they die, he will taketheir souls up to heaven to himself, wherethey will be happy with the blessed angelsfor ever. Now, if you love him, mydear children, you will try and do whathe says, and that is what we mean byyour duty. Out of love, therefore, toyou, we give you this little book, whichsets before you some of the good instructionswhich are so kindly given you byyour friends in the Sunday School: youmust take care to keep in mind thesethings, if you would behave like childrenwho love their Saviour, and hope to goto heaven. Read, therefore, this affectionateadmonition, consider it well, andpray to God for grace, that you mayprofit by it.
