Since the year 1895, when Professor FlindersPetrie’s book on Historical Scarabs became “outof print,” the want of a comprehensive work onthese interesting little Egyptian antiquities has beenmuch felt. Two volumes on Egyptian Scarabs, itis true, have been published since that date, butthese works treat of private collections and do notclaim to deal with the subject in its entirety oreven in a scientific manner.
